CAROL SAE-YANG
Hi, I’m Carol! A stylist, creative director, and educator with over 25 years of experience working across fashion, interiors, editorial, and commercial styling. My work is grounded in clarity, confidence, and connection — because “great style isn’t just about how something looks, but how it makes people feel”.
I started my career in publishing, producing and styling fashion and lifestyle content for The Sydney Morning Herald, Bride to Be, and other leading Australian titles. Over the years, I’ve worked across print, television, digital, and personal branding — directing shoots, refining interiors, consulting on uniform design, and helping clients reimagine their wardrobes and spaces with purpose. From 2019 to 2021, I collaborated as Style Director for Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building — a role that reflected both my creative direction skills and the trust I’ve built with clients over time.
My background in journalism and fashion design gave me the foundations, but it’s real-world experience that has shaped how I work: with precision, integrity, and an intuitive understanding of people. I bring a calm, confident presence to every project and know how to translate a brief into something beautifully executed and distinctly personal.
I specialise in personal styling and design consulting — helping individuals and organisations express their identity with intention, ease, and longevity. I don’t believe in trends for trend’s sake. I care about thoughtful choices and lasting results — whether it’s a wardrobe, a uniform, or a physical space.
In 2023, I completed my Master of Design (Excellence) at UNSW, with a focus on sustainability in fashion and the future of consumption. That work deepened my approach to styling and design — reinforcing the importance of thoughtful decision-making, not just creative expression.
Teaching has become a meaningful part of my practice — not as a career move, but as a way to connect with the next generation of creatives. I’ve worked as a casual Tutor Assistant at UNSW and lectured at the Whitehouse Institute of Design, where I share what I’ve learned through experience — helping students build creative confidence, navigate the industry, and develop their own voice with clarity and purpose.
What grounds my work is a belief that design should feel good, function well, and last — in meaning, not just material. Whether I’m working with a private client or a creative team, my goal is always the same: to bring clarity, intention, and authenticity to the process — and to make space for people to feel seen, confident, and completely themselves.

Invisible? Hardly. Older women are everywhere in fashion.
”“The industry still has some growing up to do,” says stylist and mature model Carol Sae-Yang. “For decades, fashion has marketed to women through a lens that prioritises youth and desirability. But we aren’t dressing for approval any more. We’re dressing for ourselves”.
Life & Leisure: How to use power dressing to combat presentation jitters
“A good outfit can go a long way to calming those nerves, says stylist Carol Sae-Yang. “The first rule is to dress like yourself. Don’t try to be someone else on stage, you’ll just distract yourself, and this goes for men and women”, she says.
